ABOUT SOUNDTRAP
Soundtrap is a digital audio workstation that can be accessed in any web browser or through a mobile app (Chrome, iOS, and Android). Similar to other digital recording options, it includes prerecorded loops, multitrack recording, software instruments, voice recording, and the ability to connect MIDI devices. Soundtrap for Education provides students with a safe and secure online environment to learn and play in. It is compliant with GDPR and COPPA and FERPA standards. Soundtrap Education accounts are administered by a teacher who will manage the groups (classes), students, and assignments. In Soundtrap, students have the ability to collaborate directly from within the studio sessions. Students can share their work with other class members while it is still in progress, read notes and comments and start up video chat with each other within the project while working on it. Students and teachers can collaborate via video calls and teachers can coach and help their students from wherever they are. All Soundtrap educational accounts come with a walled garden which allows students to work together in their own, protected environment.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM A ZOOM SESSION?
Mostly, participants only see the tutor on the screen but depending on your screen settings, you may see other participants. You do have the option to keep the camera off, but we would encourage you to switch it on so we can help as much as possible. The camera is automatically off when you join, so you have to switch it on. All participants remain on mute mostly – we normally take mute off for everyone at the end of sessions so we can all say goodbye! Sometimes tutors may ask for demonstrations or answers to questions. Participants volunteer to do this, so if your young musician doesn’t want to speak or to be seen by the others, there is no requirement for them to do so. It’s a bit like an individual lesson within a group setting. Each scheduled zoom session generates an online access code - only people with the code can attend the meeting. Sessions are generally recorded. Zoom is now in regular use as an educational tool and further details on the platform are available from:

ABOUT GOOGLE CLASSROOM
All assignments and learning resources will be shared via Google Classroom. Google Classroom is an online learning platform where teachers can create classes, distribute assignments, send feedback, and see everything in one place. Google Classroom facilitates student collaboration, and fosters communication between students and their teachers. Classroom also integrates with other Google tools like Google Docs and Drive.
All participating young people will need to use their own email address to join the class following an invitation from the teacher or using the class code. Once a member, their name will be visible to other class members. Further information on Google Classroom can be obtained here:
